Oh my! Had a hard time just ordering some 6 books to send out tonight. I guess this time of year, its not just me going nuts on Amazon :-) So after this 2 hours of searching for adresses and playing with a buggy Amazon- here's what we did today- and what we need to pray for.
Sent a book out to Poyner Elementary - where Elizabeth Collins went to school. It is a book written about the waterbug and the dragonfly. If you have never read it before- I suggest googling it. It gave me comfort after the sudden loss of my ex-husband/friend- Mark. It also provided comfort to my son- as a sudden unexpected death- catches everyone by suprise- and young or old- we dont understand.
I also sent the same book to Kingsley Elementary- where Lyric Cook attended. I sent messages to each of the principals in hopes that they will share the stories with their students who were friends/classmates of the girls.
I sent a copy of the same book to Drew and Heather Collins as well- as I believe they will read it to their other children. I also sent a copy of "I wasn't ready to say goodbye." It is my FAVORITE book to send people who are dealing with the sudden and traumatic death of a loved one. So many grief books are more geared towards the "expected/hospice" type of death- where a sudden loss from out of the blue- is indeed a whole different creature.
I sent out a contemporary english version of the Bible, and a Tony Dungy devotional to a young man who happens to be a son of a friend. He is serving time in prison, as of course I do not condone whatever it is that landed him there: but there are at LEAST two Bible verses to provide us guidance in times such as this. "Let he who is WITHOUT sin, cast the first stone." "While looking at the speck in your neighbors eye- do you not see the log in yours."
So if you could say a prayer for the families and friends of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook it would be much appreciated. A quick prayer for the young man who has most certainly made mistakes- but who God loves as he asks for forgiveness; would also be appreciated.
I don't think many people follow this- however it does NOT bother me; as I am doing this NOT for fame- I am doing this to help others- and listening to what the Holy Spirit has spoken to my heart. God Bless You, and I hope you are happy, your family healthy, and your Christmas full of love and amazement at the birth of our Saviour.
